2009 Grads face the worst job market in decades

College Grads face stiff competition among one another, young workers with two to five years of experience, returning retirees, and moms re-entering the workforce.

Many colleges and universities have seen declines in on-campus recruiting - up to 50%.

Employers have cut 2 million jobs since January, a toll that shows no sign of receding soon.

The unemployment rate among 20- to 24-year-olds rose to 13.5 percent in January, up from 9.8 percent a year ago.

In nearly all fields, employers expect to hire 22% fewer graduates from the class of 2009 compared to last year. The drop is worse in the Northeast, with a 39% decrease from the last year. Finance sector employers expect to have 71% fewer jobs to offer this year's grads.
